Mazaya Qatar receives 70 applications for summer internship at Qatar University Student Sponsorship Day

Mazaya Qatar Real Estate Development Company wrapped up its participation in the Qatar University Student Sponsorship Day, which was attended by a number of the country’s leading institutions, authorities and student affairs professionals. The company received about 70 applications submitted by Qatar University students from various colleges and disciplines for a summer training internship it is offering.

The Student Sponsorship Day programme aims to enable Qatar University students to learn about available jobs at participating companies, as well as the nature of these jobs, in a month-long programme that coincides with the summer holiday season, a period during which the students will be made aware of what his future career will entail and will have the opportunity to examine his choices in light of the experiences gained from the programme.

Ms Maryam Al Fadalah, Mazaya Qatar’s Human Resources Director, said, “This programme is important because it helps bridge the gap between students’ expectations and the reality of the job market, and it shows the existing opportunities in different sectors. This will ensure the right person is in the right place, as well as a fostering a positive and well-informed correlation between student and workplace.”

“Qatar University’s Student Sponsorship Day serves as an important platform for the exchange of opinions, which is why Mazaya Qatar has always been keen to participate. We expect the event to be a resounding success due to the nature and size of participants, and the large numbers of applications from students. This event motivates students to exert greater effort when it comes to getting their desired position. It also contributes to adopting the necessary measures that serve the Qatarisation programme,” she added.

The Student Sponsorship Day and internship event took place at Qatar University from 24 to 27 October 2011, and saw the participation of major companies and institutions in Qatar. The first two days of the event were aimed at female students, and the last two at male students. Students will participate in month-long summer training internship programmes in accordance with the preferences they specified in the application forms filled out during the event.
